Happy, Happy Birthday!!!
My little sweet girl turned one on October 8. I can't believe it has been a whole year since she joined our family. She is such a little miracle! We adore her and love the little personality that is coming out. We had a little party with family and friends to celebrate Keyli!
OUR BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!
I made her shirt and bow, and added some extras to her little skirt. We also decorated the house with balloons and pictures of Keyli's first year. Everything was pink and green and I think it turned out pretty good.
THE SPREAD
I spent the day before and morning of making cakes and decorating. I decided to make cake pops for the kids and make a 3 tiered cake for Keyli. It was definitely a project. I had a little trouble getting the cake pops to stay on the sticks after dipping in chocolate and had to make them all smaller. The cake was an adventure as well. I had never used fondant but wanted to give it a try. I also didn't have cake pans in the sizes I wanted so I improvised. 30 minutes before her party I thought the cake needed something where the layers came together because it didn't look so good so I went to the store and the green gumballs was all I could find. I think it turned out pretty good for a first timer. Next time should be much easier.
THE CAKE
We had a little dinner and then the party started. Keyli was so cute opening her presents. She just wanted to play with whatever she got and wasn't too interested in opening the next one, until she realized it was something fun as well.
My sister Melanie didn't think Keyli would find getting clothes to be very fun, so she put in a few suckers. Keyli thought it was great! She kept a sucker in her mouth the whole rest of the time!
I tried showing Keyli how to use the xylophone. She tried using the stick and couldn't hold it quite right...so the smart girl she is, she took out her sucker and started banging.
When we were looking at ideas of what we wanted to get Keyli the store had this little cart set up and out. She pushed it all over. My mom had already picked it up and since I knew Keyli loved it I saved it for last. As soon as I took it out of the bag she said Ooooo...And good all excited. She pushed it around for quite a while after she opened it!
We then set out to blow out the candles. I should have double checked but I only had 2 matches left...both of which didn't work. Lucky for us my sister keeps a lighter in her car for emergencies. Keyli wasn't too sure of what she was supposed to do.
While we were all singing she thought she would eat the gum balls.
Is this whole thing for me?
Hmm...how should I eat this?
This works! Why wouldn't she try to eat the whole thing at once!
She was so dainty with her cake it was funny. She wouldn't completely dig in. She would just take little pieces off and eat them. After a while she started sharing with dad.
All done, get me out!
We had a great time and are glad our family and friends came out to celebrate such a special girl.
Keyli's One Year Old stats:
Weight: 19lbs 9oz
Length: 28.75
Words: Da da, Momma, whas at (whats that), na na (banana), ba ba (bottle), wow, and hi.
Keyli loves to run around all over the house and get into whatever she can find. She loves reading her books and can look at them for hours. She loves to be outside and frequently goes to the door and waves bye, bye. She loves carrying her baby dolls. She loves all other kids and gets so excited to see them she yells until they pay attention to her. She definitely knows what she wants and lets us know when we are not doing what she wants. She loves to eat anything we give her. She loves singing along to songs and to lead the music at church. She likes to put on my chap stick and try to put her bows in her hair. She is so much fun and we are so blessed to have her in our home!
